Ang Payat Mo

by iamrain (Metro Manila) Posted on 10/12/2012 10:01 am

I keep hearing this phrase over and over whenever I meet people who haven't seen me since I started this diet last July. While I haven't been able to strictly adhere to the diet (I've only lost 7lbs in 12 weeks), the change has been noticeable.

I work out quite regularly and I believe that a good combination of diet and exercise is important to looking good - not emaciated / gaunt like people who lose weight too quickly - I didn't want to have saggy skin and a tired looking face.

Before this diet, I had hit a plateau and my weight loss slowed to a halt despite my exercising. But when I followed the meal plans, I rediscovered "clean" eating. I still eat food that isn't very healthy (I love junk food) but having learned to look at food in a better way through this diet, I'm able to have better discipline when I need to recover.

I've also previously gone to see a nutritionist a few years ago and while the fundamentals are quite similar (i.e. eating proper amounts of all food types), I think the great thing about this diet is that there are recipes to follow but it also allows for flexibility through the table of food equivalences.

All of that said, I'm happy with my body - I'm the lightest I've ever been - and happy with most of my eating habits (no pork, no beef and the principles of this diet).

Happy dieting (:

Hey, Rain, CONGRATULATIONS! Let me also say it's great that you're also exercising. I hate it myself, but I'm still doing it, just so I don't gain back the weight that I'd lost. :-q

If I may share too, I actually often broke a plateau by either eating more, or taking a break from exercise. It's weird, but I can deal with it. :)

ME too! Relatives, friends and co churchworkers noticed my slimmer me. "Ang payat mo ah." "Di kita nakilala, nagdadiet ka?" Payat kasi ng mukha at braso mo...etc...Deep inside, I was so happy with all these praises. Kaya am very much motivated.Of course, I told them about the BAD program I had. The're even asking the meal plan, but I told them the secret of the recipe were lots of sacrifices, more patience and educating oneself and right attitute for correct eating habits, food to eat and a lot more. I am now enjoying the program, there were cheated days but I can now control it, learning the process of getting fit and healthy, slowly but forever. Simultaneously need to tone and sculpt those bulges... exercise...

Rain, thank you so much for sharing your experience with us.

I am glad to see that you are living the principles of the Bon Appetit Diet. As a dietitian for the Bon Appetit Diet for close to a year now, the most important thing I want to impart to the clients I've handled is that being at your target and healthiest weight takes time, requires work, and is a continuous process.

1. Being in your target and healthiest weight takes time
- Dr. Cohen gives you an estimated time when you will reach your target weight, but he also emphasizes that you should listen to your body, and learn to adapt the diet at your own pace. For me personally, it is not only the pounds you lost that should serve as a measure of success. It is in the habits you learned along that has much greater importance.

2. It requires work
- You should do your part, too. But don't see it as a punishment. Enjoy the process.

3. It is a continuous process
- The Bon Appetit Diet does not end once you finished the program and met your target weight. It is a continuous process of applying the healthy eating habits you learned in the program.

You inspired me today, Rain. Continue to be one to others :)

;) CONGRATZ! and let me say it too, "ANG PAYAT MO!"

Well, I think the most popular cliche applies to all of us - Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels! :-q
