i am a government employee, a private medical practitoner on the side (after office hours), and a mother of a five year old child after two concecutive unsuccessful pregnancies due to an autoimmune disorder.

by my introduction you can probably surmise all the ordeals, trials and tribulations not to mention the weight that has come upon me. all these were no equal to what has happened to me recently.

i was climbing two flights of stairs at work, and upon reaching the top, i was literally gasping for air. it took me a while to catch my breath. i got scared. this is not good. i have a five year old child who might lose a parent if something happens to me. at that time, i came to realize i need to loose weight for my health and for my family. the aesthetic benefits it might bring will be a welcome bonus to me.

I met dr. cohen at the right time. i was looking for a way to achieve my weight loss goal without taking any pills/injections or undergoing any procedure whatsoever. I came across an advertisement in the internet for a free diet profile. i answered the questionnaire and the rest is history.

you might ask: you are a doctor and yet you seek help in order to loose weight. how come? it is one thing to treat patients who are sick, and another if you are the one who needs help. this time, i am the patient.

with the help of my husband, my daughter, and the rest of my family, i was able to stick to my diet plan. my husband helped me prepare/cook the meals while my daughter, parents, siblings were my cheering squad. i fear that i might not be able to stick to my diet plan if i get hungry, and to my surprise, i did not.

having a busy schedule most of the time, i studied the custom meal plans thoroughly so i can substitute the prescribed menu for the day to what is available for me at work. i also bring food at work whenever i can (cucumber/apple/carrot, etc.) so i have a ready snack and will not tend to give in to temptation. nowadays, we cook in large batches ahead of time, then store them in the refrigerator. these we eat in the next few days and/or i also bring at work.

i get teased at work because of my "unusual" diet. the fist two weeks of the program was the hardest for me. talk about starting on your diet program right smack in the middle of the holiday season. how do you give up doing things that has been in your system for almost all your life? i love food. i love to eat. our family rituals/celebrations revolve around food. good thing i have my support group. their love for me provided for the emotional/psychological difficulties i am experiencing at that time.

my efforts eventually paid off when they started noticing the changes in me. my once tight clothes are now loosening, and my bulges are not that prominent as compared before. my husband can reach both his hands
