How to combat diet when stressed?

by wanabefit (Island Garden City Of Samal) Posted on 05/18/2013 11:27 am

when your mind is too consumed on so many things the diet I'm following seems lacking, my main problem is that when I do so much mind works I tend to get hungry, I'm at my 11th week this monday, I did surpass that hungry for snacks weeks before but just recently I am not satisfied with my intakes, I did follow the meal plan but I feel hungry after work especially when I sleep late and work is piled up. I need some advice when you're facing stress and wants to stick on your diet without having your stomach suffer.... what to do? I just don't want to oer eat again.... thanks....

I completely understand as I feel this way sometimes. To cope with stress, most of us use food as a stress reliever, because that's the easiest thing to have, thus the term "comfort food". But there are other ways and means to deal with stress. Here's my suggestions:

1. Drink teas like chamomile or lavender tea.
2. Exercise. When I am mad or stressed I usually go for a 30-minute run to release steam.
3. Laugh. Watch a 30-minute sitcom like How I Met Your Mother or The Big Bang Theory
4. Love. There is already scientific proof that hugging and kissing someone release endorphins which makes us happy and somewhat relaxed.
5. Have a banana. It is the underrated anti-stress food.

You are not hungry, that is just your stress hormones at work. Learn to manage stress before you deal with feeling hungry or cravings.
