A popular Filipino dish in which meat is marinated in a sauce of vinegar and garlic, browned in oil, and simmered in the marinade.

Ingredients for 1 person/s :
  • 120 g lean meat pieces (chicken or pork)
  • 1 pc minced garlic clove
  • 1/2 pc diced onion
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 1/2 cups of water
  • 1 pc bay leaf
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil

Directions:
  • In a big sauce pan or wok, sauté garlic and onions.
  • Add the meat to the pan. Add 1/2 cup of water, 1/4 cup of soy sauce, vinegar, and the bay leaf. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes or when meat is tender.
  • Remove the meat from the sauce pan.
  • Bring to a boil then simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Serve hot with plain rice.
