Snacks

I noticed that the meal plan only has 3 square meals. I'm only on my third day, but I noticed that I get hungry in between. What I do is eat the fruit that I'm supposed to be eating for either lunch or dinner.

What snacks are we allowed to have without compromising the diet?

@bnids: It is recommended to have at least 3-4 hour meal intervals. As mentioned, you can only see 3 square meals in your meal plan, so to have snacks, you have to reallocate some of the food items. Always remember that snack should not be an additional source of calories. It is advised that you drink 1.5-2 liters of water daily. This amount of water should be increased if you are engaged in strenuous physical activity and is in a warm and dry weather that causes you to sweat a lot..

What is the time intervals between meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) ? How much water is required per day? This will help me plan my day specially when I'm out.

Thanks

@Bellestar: I would not usually advice dried mangoes in replacement of fresh fruits because it is high in sugar.

I suggest that you have this occasionally in replacement of 1 serving fruit. You can have 2 long slices of dried mangoes. Be careful as you can easily overeat this. To avoid this, what you can do is to make your own trail mix. Cut the dried mangoes in small chips then add nuts like almonds and walnuts in it.

Hi @Eileen28! You can definitely snack on popcorn. It can be a healthy snack depending on how you prepare it. it's best that you make it yourself, with a little bit of olive oil or butter and flavor it with salt or any herb or spice that you like. Microwaveable popcorn are a little to much on fat and salt, if you must have it, at least buy the light variant. You can have 2 cups of plain, light or flavored and this counts as 1 portion of starch and 1/2 portion of fat. :)

@ cheflores_31: Please ask our team through the Personal Questions tool as we have to give you an advice specific for you. We also need more details like what time you usually wake up and arrive home, and if this work schedule is fixed. Thanks!

@ hotbabedriver: You may snack on something starchy like a sandwich or root crops to supply you with the energy you need throughout the day. Just make the necessary adjustments in your recommended meal plans. Make sure that you still keep within the food portions recommended for you.

I have the same dilemma...i keep getting hungry in between meals. Especially with all the brain work that I do at work, I end up getting hungry even if it's not yet meal time...any other snack suggestions besides the salad? Are there snacks that can help me think more for work instead of thinking more about food? O:-)
