What's Your Workout?

by victoriacastillo Posted on 10/18/2011 8:00 am

30 minutes of exercise a day is recommended for best results. It can be even a simple 30-minute walk around the block! What do you do?

Right now, I currently enjoy Barre3 classes; it's a mix of pilates and yoga being performed on a ballet barre.

Hatha yoga is an hour and a half, Kundalini is an hour and fifteen mins. :)

I go to Urban Ashram for Hatha Yoga - great for toning and strengthening. When I have extra time, I attend another class at 4:30pm during mondays and thursdays-Kundalini Yoga for giving my mind a rest from all the internal noise and for extra calorie-burning. ;)

@Swit8: It should be OK; exercise is known to lower blood pressure. :) But it might be best to take it moderately for now, and not do any intense activity.

I am on medication right now because of hypertension and will undergo lab tests next week, can I still do some workouts/exercises? :(

Right now, I'm doing the Turbo Fire workouts (by the same company that made the P90X and Insanity workouts). This is different because it focuses more on aerobics. I was able to pick up quickly, because I also took aerobics classes in a gym before, so I knew all the terms.

It combines some kickboxing moves (punches and kicks), so I was able to lose inches off my arms, hips, and butt (yay!). But I still really miss kicking an actual target, even with all those bruises on my legs. :-q

@Onlyhis722: If you are on 1400 kcal, you can get those items out of your recommended meals, for example set aside a pc of banana from your lunch and eat it before your workout.

@laarni: I read your msg re. 1 pc boiled egg and 1 pc banana before workout and 1 glass of non-fat milk after workout. Just to clarify, adding this to our daily food requirement is okay as long as we do workouts?

Hi Victoria!

Thanks for replying. You really helped me re. my dilemma. I will continue my workout routine and will make sure to consume not less than 1,400kcal/day. I will probably just adjust my cardio routine since in that 30min I am probably running (the fastest I can) half of that time. This forum is so cool! Thanks!

Hi Hazel,

Working out is ENCOURAGED in this program. In your case, with 30 mins of cardio and 30 mins of strength, you must not go any lower than the 1,400 kcal/day meal plans, so you have enough energy.

You mentioned that your friend is a "he", and men have higher calorie needs than women. Please tell him he can use his personal questions tool and detail his workout and his meal plans so our dietitans can recommend the best course of action for him. :)

A friend of mine who is currently in this program said that any form of exercise (especially gym workout) is prohibited during the program. "Nakakamatay" daw. Maybe because of less calorie intake which translates to less energy, I'm not sure. But he surely discouraged me to stop working out. I recently reactivated my gym membership before my fiance bought this diet program for me. After reading your posts, I'm now in a dilemma. Is it really okay to work-out during the program? I normally do a 30 min. cardio and 30 min weights (for arms, abs, legs). Hope to hear from you soon.
